“SHAKESPEARE LIVES IN OUR HEARTS”
ISA BRITISH COUNCIL ONLINE PROJECT
CLASSES:  IX –X
AUGUST, 2017

The scholars of D.A.V Public School, Sainik Colony, Sec 49, Faridabad participated in an ISA online project comprising of myriad activities. The students got the opportunity to appreciate and explore the works of the Western Canon of literature, William Shakespeare. They developed an understanding of drama through interesting and enriching activities. The creative online project ensured an effective and stimulating learning experience for all concerned.



PHENOMENA OF SHAKESPEARE
The Class IX students made interesting and creative  PPTs  on different topics. Each of the five sections was given a distinct topic; namely, Shakespeare’s Writing Style, Themes in Shakespeare’s Plays, Shakespeare’s Most Memorable Heroes, Shakespeare’s Unforgettable Villains, Movies on Shakespeare’s Plays.










PROJECT FILE ON THEATRE IN SHAKESPEARE’S TIME

Informative and artistic project files were prepared by the scholars of Class X in which they put information about ‘Theatre in Shakespeare’s Time’. They had an exhilarating learning experience while working in groups and were enriched with information; viz, stage design and setting, costumes, actors, spectators and cue acting in Shakespeare’s time.











SONNET / MONOLOGUE CONTEST

The students participated enthusiastically in the Sonnet and Monologue Competition. The scholars gained knowledge of the figurative language used in Shakespeare’s works while adopting the technique of Learning by Doing. The audience was in awe of the remarkable recitals such as “Shall I Compare thee to a Summer’s Day” and renditions such as Ophelia’s monologue. 




SCREENING OF MOVIE ‘JULIUS CAESAR’
In this enlightening project, Shakespeare’s famous tragedy ‘Julius Caesar’ was screened in the School Auditorium, which the students enjoyed thoroughly. The screening abridged the gap between the learner and the text by making it easier for them to understand the language, the culture, and the characters; which otherwise seem remote from their lives and understanding.






THEATRE ON
‘THE MERCHANT OF VENICE’

Engaging method of Theatre was employed and an excerpt of the staged play, “The Merchant of Venice” was showcased, which held the attention of scholars. The pupils found it captivating to watch lifeless text brought to life in spoken words.
